Hoot Night Magic
Monday, May 17th, 2010
Hoot Night with Host Jonathan Sarty is in full swing these days with more musicians than ever taking the stage and or couch. The great thing about Hoot Night is you never know who will show up. Last week regulars Thom Perkins and Kathy Bennett led things off, followed by longtime Hoot Night performer Bob Rutherford who returned to great applause. Just when you thought the night couldn’t get any more interesting old friend and Red Neck Funny Man (professional comedian) Buckly Lewis flew in after his MS gig to perform some of his golden XXX oldies. What a freaking Hoot!!!!!!!!!!!!1
FIRST FOLIAGE ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL TO BE HELD AT BLACK MOUNTAIN SKI AREA ON OCTOBER 3, 2009
Monday, September 28th, 2009
Jackson, NH - The First Foliage Arts and Music (FAM) Festival is slated to be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from noon to 7:00PM at the base of Black Mountain Ski Area in Jackson, New Hampshire. The festival, slated to become an annual event, will feature nine musical acts including two well known Mt. Washington Valley bands: the White Mountain Boys and Audio Kickstand. Also appearing on the main stage will be Black Marmot, a folk rock band, Roots Down Below, a Boston based reggae band, and the headliner, the Adam Ezra Group, critically acclaimed as Boston’s ‘new voice in acoustic rock’. Side stage performers currently include Tim Gurshin, Anni Clark, Bear and Swampdog, and the Jeff Conley Group. The event is the brainchild of Whitney’s Inn, the Shovel Handle Pub and Black Mountain Ski Area owners and staff, all dedicated to promoting upper Jackson. Local breweries, food vendors, artisans and crafters will be on hand to add to the fun. Other activities will include pumpkin carving, horseback riding, pony rides and a trout fishing derby.
“Black Mountain and Whitney’s Inn are working together to promote what we refer to as the Upper Village of Jackson”, stated Don Bilger, owner of Whitney’s Inn and the Shovel Handle Pub. “Upper Jackson offers a pastoral setting with spectacular foliage surrounding the venue location for the FAM Festival. This should be a great event for both locals and guests visiting the valley and we’re looking forward to holding this event for years to come,” finished Bilger. Lori Pecor, Marketing Director of Black Mountain Ski Resort, is equally enthusiastic about the event. “The upcoming season marks 75 years of entertaining locals and travelers alike at the base of Black Mountain, and we’ve come a long way since 1935! Today, our guests can enjoy everything onsite from lodging, dining and great live music, to fishing, horseback riding, and, of course, skiing!” said Pecor. “The FAM Fest has now been added to the ever growing list of ‘what’s happening’ in the Upper Village of Jackson and our team has a many additional events planned for the upcoming season!” concluded Pecor. Jon Sarty
The Wildcat Inn & Tavern is excited to announce a new award to honor some of the Valley’s best known and most talented “Hoot Night Legends”. According to Hoot Night host Jonathan Sarty of The White Mountain Boys, the musicians who have graced the Hoot Night stage over the years are a veritable whose who of local, regional and national performers. “I got my start at Hoot Night as a performer”, said Sarty who credits a number of popular local musicians like Rod McKenzie who encouraged him to take the stage years ago. In this same tradition, The Wildcat Inn & Tavern is excited to announce a new seasonal award to recognize some of the great musicians who frequent and support not only Hoot Night, but who mentor and encourage many up and coming young performers who are just beginning their musical careers.

Thom Perkins
This past Hoot Night Host Sarty and Rane Peterson of the Tavern recognized Marvin Haber and Thom Perkins as “Hoot Night Legends”. Marvin and Thom are accomplished musicians who have happily shared their talents, advice and expertise with fellow Hoot Night performers over the years and have entertained music fans Valley wide with their amazing musical performances. Congratulations from everyone at The Wildcat Inn & Tavern to Marvin and Thom. Both performers will receive a free vacation getaway courtesy of the Tavern and will have their names placed on our Legends Plaque.
In addition to this great new recognition program, The Tavern is excited to announce that all Hoot Night performers will enjoy free pizza whenever they perform and will be entered in to a monthly drawing for 2 free tickets to a Stone Mountain Arts Center performance. Free lodging will also be offered to Guest Performers joining Hoot Night from out of town. Hoot Night at The Wildcat Inn & Tavern has always been about musicians helping musicians create something special in this unique music venue. These new events are one small way the staff and fans of the Tavern can say thanks to all the talented folks who support the Hoot.
