Ghosts of the Wildcat Inn & Tavern

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Many historic New England buildings are rumored to be the earthly residences of people who have long since passed from this world in to the next.  For those who believe in things that go bump in the night (we do) The Wildcat Inn & Tavern is such a place……

…..Many a traveler to the Wildcat over the years has reported strange happenings, feelings, temperature changes and noises that cannot easily be explained.  From guests who have glimpsed a youthful couple in 1920’s tennis attire pausing in front of our main entrance to those who have felt a presence or strong temperature change in the very bed in which they slept,  The Wildcat seems to be blessed with the spirit of guests or staff members  from the past who are reluctant to leave……

A rainy night in Jackson made for a terrific Hoot Nite as leading local musician’s like Scott Montgomery and Customer of the Year Bob Bramble settled in for a memorable jam.  Little did anyone know though a special treat was on tap as the North Carolina based blue grass band Woody Pines strolled in to play a great set of down home Carolina blue grass music.  On tour in New England the band had heard about Hoot Nite and found their way to Jackson….add a great Red Sox win over the Bronx Bombers and a Laker loss to the Magic and a truly great night was had by all.

Dog's Night Out

Dog's Night Out

Every Tuesday night we feature a special Dinner with Your Dog Event, but this doesn’t mean you can only bring your dog on Tuesdays. The Wildcat Inn and Tavern welcomes well behaved, leashed dogs in our tavern and garden dining areas and in our lodging rooms year round. No dogs in the dining room please. Tuesday night is sort of like Dog’s Nite Out where we offer special treats and cool collar bandana’s for the most social and well behaved dogs….dogs who love other dogs and dog owners who love socializing with other dog owners…you get the picture…..Tuesdays are Dog’s Night Out at The Wildcat Tavern……but dogs are welcome every night.

Hoot Nite Host Jonathan Sarty of the White Mountain Boys plus his ever colorful band mates J. Clyde Ramsey and Sir Pinkerton (with clothing on) rocked the Tavern last night along with some of our most frequent Hoot Nite entertainers.  While Marvin Haber - trumpet player extraordinaire and founder of the Big Band Swingtones taped some new WMB music the smaller off season crowd continued to ponder when legendary local Greg Tsoules would return.  Might have been right before or right after Tiny took to the drum kit, Tsoules made his entrance and suddenly all was right in the Hoot Nite universe….that is until the King of Pink Cadallac took the stage and managed not blow an amp with his ever memorable and much appreciated rendition of this classic song…no one does Pink Caddy like the King.
