With summer looking like it’s in full bloom here in the North Country its time to crank it up at the Kat with lots of great music and a big going away party for bartender extraordinaire Joel Cossette. This weekend we’re opening the garden for dining plus here’s what’s on tap for May:

For those of you looking for a great lodging value give us a call about our $50 and Free and Special for the Month of May. Another year has gone by and tomorrow, May 5, is Valley Pride Day once again.This is a wonderful opportunity to get out with your neighbors and help clean along our streets and do a little spring cleaning in the valley. After the clean up, you can head to the Hampton Inn 
in North Conway for a free luncheon, entertainment and prizes. The kids can also bring their swim suits and enjoy the hotel’s indoor pool.

It’s also Cinco de Mayo tomorrow so after you’ve helped clean up your part of the community stop by the Wildcat Tavern for a margarita and some nachos.
As you know, there’s always something to do in Jackson and the greater North Conway area. For this weekend, April 28 &29, here’s a quick rundown on some of these events:
Food & Film Festival: Come view three films and peruse educational exhibits about health and nutrition, local foods and CSAs. Concessions and children’s activities available. Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Kennett High School in North Conway. Free admission.
Jazz Performer Gretchen Parlato: Gretchen Parlato has been turning heads ever since she won the 2004 Thelonious Monk Institute International Vocal Competition. Her sultry, intriguing voice and unique, rhythmically agile phrasing came with inescapable centripetal force; the more intimate and understated she sang, the more she drew listeners in. Since
then she has toured worldwide to sold out audiences. Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

It’s a full schedule here at The Wildcat Inn & Tavern in Jackson, NH. With the natural snow that has fallen and the outstanding work of the snowmakers at the many surrounding ski resorts this is an ideal time to come to Jackson for either a mid-week or a New Hampshire weekend getaway. Through the end of January (2012) you can stay Sunday through Thursday nights for only $59 per night (double occupancy). Tuesdays: Our Hoot Night (open mic night) has been going on for 25 years and brings the best local musicians into the Tavern for a night or great live music and lots of fun.

Thursdays: FREE all-you-can-eat pasta feed for area ski resort, ski shop and Forest Service employees. Not one of these employees? That’s ok, show today’s lift ticket and pay only $5.95 and if you didn’t ski pay only $8.95. (Ends mid-March)
Fridays: All-you-can-eat fish fry. Endless fish and fries served up hot every Friday night.
Saturdays: Live music in the Tavern every Saturday night. Come listen to the sounds of local favorites Bennett & Perkins, Lex & Joe, The White Mountain Boys and many more.
Sundays: The Sunday Buffet has just started up again. Enjoy another all-you-can-eat buffet with live music for only $14.95. (winter only)

It’s hard to believe that we’re full on into September now with the children back to school and foliage season just around the corner. The busy summer tourist season may be over but that doesn’t mean the wedding season has ended. For us, the fall wedding season is just as strong as the summer. After all, there isn’t much in this world more beautiful than being outside surrounded by the glorious autumn colors of New Hampshire.
The Wildcat Inn & Tavern in Jackson, NH is comprised of a 90 seat main dining room divided into 5 distinct spaces, a 90 seat Tavern with roaring fire places, our beautiful outdoor gardens and deck, and 12 inn rooms and 
suites. Each of these areas can be used exclusively for wedding rehearsal dinners, private parties or business meetings and events. For guests thinking of holding any kind of ceremony at The Wildcat there are several great locations, inside and out, for exchanging vows. There are also other great locations within walking distance of The Wildcat including, “The Little White Church” and the waterfalls.

It’s hard to believe that Memorial Day and Father’s Day have come and gone and July is just around the corner. Recently, we’ve been very busy doing some spring cleaning around the inn and prepping the gardens for your enjoyment. Whether you prefer sitting in the sun or in the shade we have a spot just right for you. Doesn’t it seem that food always tastes better when you’re dining outside?

Speaking of dining…on Monday nights we are now offering half price ribs and on Sundays we have 2-for-1 appetizers all day. We’re also putting the finishing touches on a brand new summer menu with lots of new additions, all your old favorites and even some daily specials we think you’ll find darn near impossible to resist. To highlight just a couple of our more popular menu choices we have Lobster Macaroni & Cheese which has penne pasta, garlic & cheddar cheese, cream sauce, lobster meat, parmesan cheese, parsley and garlic bread. For something on the lighter side how about our Walnut Gorgonzola Salad made up of mixed greens, candied walnuts, cranberries, gorgonzola cheese and sweet raspberry vinaigrette.
Whether you want to dine in our air conditioned dining room, the tavern or in our outside garden we hope to see you soon.
Though the weather has been quite rainy lately the temps are due to climb dramatically this week and land in the 70′s with a bit of sunshine mixed in. With this weekend being Memorial Day it’s a long weekend and the unofficial kickoff of summer activities here in Jackson, North Conway and the greater Mount Washington Valley. Here are just a couple of the many things to do this weekend:
Alton Weagle Day: Come help us celebrate this great man who had a great love of Mt. Washington. He climbed Mt. Washington several times and a variety of ways including walking backwards and pushing a wheel barrow full of sugar. Check out The Mt. Washington Auto Road for more details. 
ENTRAIN in the Valley: The valley favorite ENTRAIN will be performing Saturday at Theater In The Wood in Intervale. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and it’s BYOB.
Race for Reading: Also in Intervale is the annual Race for Reading. This event is a fundraiser for the Believe In Books Literacy Foundation which encourages the reading and love of books.
And of course we have live music, Jeremy Dean & Heather Pearson, performing in the Tavern Saturday night. We’ll also have prime rib available.
This time of year the valley is fairly quiet since all the ski resorts are now closed and they haven’t opened up yet for their summer activities. There’s plenty going on at The Wildcat Inn & Tavern though. It seems we’re always busy planning for the next special event like a wedding rehearsal dinner, business meeting, birthday party, holiday party or just our regular weeknight special promotions and live music. 
This week coming up we are having 100 guests from the Tri County CAP organization for a meeting. Then on Tuesday we have our weekly Hoot Night (open mic night) hosted by the great Jon Sarty of The White Mountain Boys. On Wednesday, it’s our weekly dinner for two (only $23.50) and some great jazz and big band music by The Swingtones. The events seem to go on and on all week.
The entire month of May is very busy with private parties but don’t let that stop you from visiting us and enjoy the fun here in Jackson. Don’t forget that during the month of May you can stay FREE on any Tuesday or Wednesday night so we hope to see you soon.
