Wedding Rehearsal Dinners

It’s hard to believe that we’re full on into September now with the children back to school and foliage season just around the corner. The busy summer tourist season may be over but that doesn’t mean the wedding season has ended. For us, the fall wedding season is just as strong as the summer. After all, there isn’t much in this world more beautiful than being outside surrounded by the glorious autumn colors of New Hampshire.

The Wildcat Inn & Tavern in Jackson, NH is comprised of a 90 seat main dining room divided into 5 distinct spaces, a 90 seat Tavern with roaring fire places, our beautiful outdoor gardens and deck, and 12 inn rooms and Click to Enlargesuites. Each of these areas can be used exclusively for wedding rehearsal dinners, private parties or business meetings and events. For guests thinking of holding any kind of ceremony at The Wildcat there are several great locations, inside and out, for exchanging vows. There are also other great locations within walking distance of The Wildcat including, “The Little White Church” and the waterfalls.

Every event at The Wildcat Inn and Tavern is customized to meet the needs of our guests so we invite you to come for a tour of the entire inn and the beautiful grounds surrounding the inn. We look forward to helping make your event special and as wonderful as you imagine.

Garden Dining in Jackson

It’s hard to believe that Memorial Day and Father’s Day have come and gone and July is just around the corner. Recently, we’ve been very busy doing some spring cleaning around the inn and prepping the gardens for your enjoyment. Whether you prefer sitting in the sun or in the shade we have a spot just right for you. Doesn’t it seem that food always tastes better when you’re dining outside?

Speaking of dining…on Monday nights we are now offering half price ribs and on Sundays we have 2-for-1 appetizers all day. We’re also putting the finishing touches on a brand new summer menu with lots of new additions, all your old favorites and even some daily specials we think you’ll find darn near impossible to resist. To highlight just a couple of our more popular menu choices we have Lobster Macaroni & Cheese which has penne pasta, garlic & cheddar cheese, cream sauce, lobster meat, parmesan cheese, parsley and garlic bread. For something on the lighter side how about our Walnut Gorgonzola Salad made up of mixed greens, candied walnuts, cranberries, gorgonzola cheese and sweet raspberry vinaigrette.

Whether you want to dine in our air conditioned dining room, the tavern or in our outside garden we hope to see you soon.

Hoot Night in Jackson

I know you’re going to find this hard to believe since I work for The Wildcat Inn and Tavern but I don’t get the chance to go to Hoot Night on Tuesdays very often. Then when I do go I always ask myself why I don’t go more often because it’s so much fun.

What makes it so fun? Glad you asked. First there’s the Tavern itself. A lot of places might call themselves taverns but very few actually have the look and feel of an authentic tavern. From the flooring to the fireplace to the old fashioned wooden sled used for the beer taps the Wildcat certainly fits the bill as a tavern. Next is the people. You have people of all ages and walks of life that come to enjoy their friends company and some good music. Last and certainly not least, the music. The quality of musicians that perform on Hoot Night is incredible. On any given night you could have pianists, guitarists, fiddlers, drummers and the list goes on.

So the next time you’re at home sitting in front of the tv and you realize it’s a Tuesday night, shut off the tube and head to The Wildcat Inn and Tavern in Jackson for a night you’ll enjoy and talk about for a long time.

St. Patrick’s Day in Jackson

The weather is predicted to be fantastic this week and it’s a good thing because there’s plenty of fun happening in and around Jackson. In the Tavern we’ll have our usual Free Pasta Feed for ski area workers but we’ll also have Kristen Corrigan in for some great live music.

Down in North Conway, you’ll find the annual “Lucky Paws” on St. Patrick’s Day at Four Your Paws Only. FREE drawings and prize giveaways from our “Pot of Gold” when you bring your dog in today! Find the hidden Leprechaun within the store and win the grand prize!

Also on Thursday, Flatbread Company in the Eastern Slope Inn in North Conway is the site of a St. Patrick’s Day benefit for the Mt. Washington Valley Green Team. Flatbread will donate a portion of the proceeds of each pizza sold-eat-in or take-out– between the hours of 4 p.m. and closing on Thursday, March 17, to the Green Team. Prize raffles will also be featured. FMI: rburbank@outdoors.org.

We’ll be serving up some holiday favorites for breakfast and lunch and Tuckerman Brewing Co. will be in the pub to spread some cheer with tastings of their fine, locally crafted brews.

Whatever you decide to do on Thursday, please be safe. We want to see you return to The Wildcat Inn & Tavern.

So Much Fun, So Little Time

It’s so hard to believe that February is ending and March is just a few days away. Where has the time gone? As you can imagine, this week has been extremely busy here in Jackson and the greater Mount Washington Valley with school vacationers. It’s been almost non-stop skiing, eating and drinking…not necessarily in that order. Don’t worry though. The week may be coming to an end but the fun around here isn’t. As I write this we are in the midst of a snow storm which is predicted to drop a foot of fresh snow on us making the nordic and alpine skiing all that much better.

Not really into skiing the entire time you’re here? That’s ok, we understand. Here’s a few fun things you can do this weekend in the North Conway area:

Guided Snowshoe Tour at King Pine Ski Area

Experience a guided snowshoe adventure exploring the Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary at King Pine Ski Area and Purity Spring Resort. Departs from The Mill Fitness Center at Purity Spring Resort @ 2pm. Rentals available at King Pine base lodge. Free for lodging guests or with valid lift ticket/season pass. Off the street guests pay the regular trail fee. All abilities welcome, including beginners & families.

Winter Mountaineering Essentials: “What If . . . ?”

Mount Washington Observatory Summit Adventures offer the exclusive opportunity to experience Mount Washington in winter without a technical mountaineering ascent. Travel to and from the summit is made possible by snow tractor transportation, and cozy overnight accommodations are provided at the summit weather station. The educational value of the visit is enhanced by expert instruction in a variety of subjects, ranging from mountain photography to meteorology, climate change to cooking.

The instructor for this trip is Joe Lentini who is a professional climbing guide of more than 30 years and vice president of the New Hampshire Mountain Rescue Service. For this workshop, Joe will cover the potential dangers of winter above-treeline travel, and what you can do if you lose your way or if someone in your group becomes injured. Topics include: crampon and ice axe use, emergency snow shelter building, avalanche survival, and how to search for people buried in the snow. Also includes a mountaineering slide show and trip planning instruction.
